## Family history

My brother also have elevated Lp(a), around 600 while I'm at around 800. My father died of meningitis when he was around 50 years old. My mom died of suicide when she was around 55 years old. I do not have any knowledge of diseases that run in my family.

## Diverticular disease

Very recent and is the main concert. I'm currently in the process of going back to a normal life with a vegetarian diet and regular exercise while I'm still trying to reduce risk of rebleeding.

During the september 2024 colonoscopy, diverticular disease was diagnosed. Diagnosis in Norwegian: "K57.3 Divertikkelsykdom i tykktarm uten perforasjon eller abscess" with this info as well "Spredte små divertikler fra høyre fleksur til kolon sigmoideum.".

### Development

A little bit of blood was found in the stool in september 2024 just before the colonoscopy, about the size of a large blueberry with fresh blood. After that there were no bleeding incidents of anything unnormal until late august 2025 where I first had a tiny bit of blood, then I had a bleeding about 2 days later which colored the water in the toilet bowl pretty red and I also felt dizzy and drained of energy that night. I was far from any hospitals so I did not seek treatment and as of 2025-09-09 still have not seen anyone. Before that incident my diet changed a lot since I was in a small chinese city where I had to eat chinese food. I then stopped eating the daily large amounts of vegetables I had gotten used to. I also had a whole fried fish the night before the bleeding incident. I also had my first ever chinese pork incestine dinner the day before. I had 3-5 units of alchohol on average per day the days before the incident and I was exercising by jogging intensly every 2nd day.

### Recovery after bleeding incident 2025-08-19

#### Week 1-2
After the initial couple of days with researching, and eating normally, I ended up with a low fiber diet consisting of Rice Porridge, Pumpkin soup often with white toast and fried egg, Banana pancakes, Indian boiled fish in a non spicy sauce like Korma with white rice. Only drink water and banana smoothie and apple juice, 100% stopped alchohol and have greatly reduced the amount of sugar. No bleeding incidents and a bit lower energy level than usual. Was able to stabilize the firmness of my stool.

#### Week 3
Have continued following the diet but the situation worsened towards the end of the week. More stomach pain, a lot of bloating and gass, lower energy levels and mixed firmness with the stool. In one toilet session I had most of the stool firm, but the rest totally liquid. Towards the end of the week I started eating carrot soup (no firm pieces) and each night I had 2 Soda waters with a slice of lemon in each as a replacement for alchohol when going out. Since the situation worsened, I will stop having the lemon slice and not have any more carrot soup, instead stick to pumpkin soup like before. No visible blood in stool, but a couple of cases that I have been very uncertain if there was a tiny amount of blood (less than 1mm) or if it was just imagination or something else. Most of the week I have been trying to phase exercise a bit in again by walking a little bit faster than normal strolling speed for 1-2 hours per day. Will now walk less and more slowly.

#### Week 4
I'm back to the very careful approach from week 1-2 and I will cut out even more sugar/sweet and reduce coffee to 1 or even 0 per day. Will also cut out lemon form Soda water drinks and be more careful with exercise. I will now take some blood tests and then consider if I should see a doctor here.

#### Week 5
Still following diet with no rebleeding. I've started to experiement a bit with pushing the limits like eating carrot soup in addition to pumpkin soup and also having a few slices of normal bread instead of just white toast. I also had a spicy meal. No particular problems other than the usual. The usual is stomach discomfort and bloating after every meal. I also consistently get a lot of bloating and discomfort when walking after about 10 minutes. The stool consistency is consistently too loose, but not as bad as in diarea. The stool is like a mixture of some firm but mostly liquid. I have reduced the coffee to one cup per day. I started a Omega 3 dietery plan today this week, see separate section.

#### About 4 months later
I've not had any rebleeding. Extensive testing including stool testing show no blood in stool. In January 2026 I have great stool consistency and are back into eating a full meal of mixed vegetables with rice every day. I'm also eating a bit nuts and have had a few beers again, but I suspect I should stay off the beers because only having 4 small beers make stool very loose the next day. 2026-01-26 I had a sudden stomach pain on lower right side towards the end of my jogging session (heart rate about 155). I would say 4/10 on pain spectrum. It came suddenly and quickly disappeared after I immeditable switched to walking. About 2 hours later I was having a stroll and it suddenly came back and disappeared quickly again. For the last 3 days I've had more alchohol than I've had the last 4 months; 3 small beers 3 days ago, 1 small beer 2 days ago and 4 small beers yesterday. I've also had a lot of ice cream today, but after exercising but before stroll. In general I've had a lot more sugar for the last couple of weeks than last month. I also had a big portion of mussels a couple of days ago. Before the pain today, I've not had any noticable stomach pain for weeks despite eating lots of vegetables so I feel I've had a very positive progression but suspect that either or both of alchohol consumption and intense jogging can be bad for my progress. I will try to stay off beers again for a while and also not be too intense with the exercising, maybe keeping under 150 in heart rate for a couple of weeks.

#### Food re-introduction diettary plan from 2025-09-24:

I addition to my "staples", pumpkin/carrot soup, boiled fish, white toast (potentially with cheese), eggs, rice porridge and pancakes, I will gradulary start to reintroduce:
- 4 days (-> 28.9): Lentils: Ate some Khichdi or plain dal with rice, but switched to lentil soup since a lot of seeds in indian food. Had only normal level of bloating and discomfort, no rebleeding. I always gets bloated after eating and usually 10 minute into any frisk stroll, but not painfully so.
- 4 days (-> 2.10): Avocado: 1-2 Avocado smoothie per day. Had only normal level or bloating and discomfort, no rebleeding. Now at the end of this period my stool had good consistency. Has become a firmer than before these reintroductions and stomach ache and discomfort is about at the same level.
- 1 day (2025-10-02): Pasta: I have already eaten some rice noodles without any issues so pretty sure it will be ok. I find pasta boring and not tasteful, so I just tested one day.
- 4 days (9.10 -> 13.10): Vegetables. Started gradualary introduce vegetables again, eating 50-150mg per day, gradualary scaling up, but I had some stomach pain 13.10 so I will pause it. I think stomach ache from overeating since I had the vegetables in the morning and no pain until the evening, but better safe then sorry so I wait a few days and then start in small amounts again. I order steamed vegetables from Brooklyn pizza and ask for no Green Beans - will then get carrots, brocoli and calliflower.
- At 2025-11-07: I have great stool firmness and no major issues now. I'm eating more and more vegetables every day and become more and more "fearless" in terms of eating some seeds in indian food etc. I feed diet is on a path to normality now but I will remain cautious about salad etc still. My weight have gone up quite a bit (now 75kg) so I've stopped eating pancakes since I usually eat lots of honey with it. Also, try to stop eatihng these late night meals.
- At 2026-02-07: I'm back to high fiber diett. This has had a very positive effect on my eczema. No issues. I drank quite a lot of beer now and had stomach ache the next day so I think smart to avoid or keep at very low levels.
- 2026-02-14: I had a big party 2 days ago, by far the largest alchohol consumption so far since the bleeding incident. I had no issues like pain, but very loose stool the next day and now 2 days later I do feel more discomfort and minor pain in my stomach. I'm back to exercising though, but currently not doing it too extreme by limiting myself to staying mainly under 150bpm. I did push it up to 165bpm for a few minutes at the end of this mornings jogging and had no issues.
- 2026-02-27: I consider my diet back to normal, except I'm still holding off on salads, just eating a bit cucumber and lettuce with other meals.
- 2026-04-07: I'm eating everything from my old diet now, including some salad, but if I feel my stomach is unstable I can take a day or 2 with low fiber (rice porridge, pancakes etc).

#### Supplements

##### Omega 3

2025-09-24 I started a high dose Omega 3 dietery plan. I bought 400 capsules of "Swisse Odourless High Strength Wild Fish Oil 1500mg". Each tablet contains Natural Fish Oil: 1,500mg with 270mg EPA and 180mg DHA. I'll start with 2 tablets and gradulary increase to 4. I'll follow this schedule:
- Week 1-2 (24.9 -> 8.10): 2 tablets (900mg EPA+DHA)
- Week 3-4 (8.10 -> 22.10): 3 tablets (1350mg EPA+DHA)
- Week 5+ (22.10 -> ): 4 tablets (1800mg EPA+DHA)

I've been consistently taking these until 2026-01-06. Then I changed to Herbs Earth Krill Oil+ (500mg, 60 capsules, 100-200mg total EPA/DHA with phospholidpid form for 2x better update than fish oil triglycerides) so I only take 2 of these per days since they have better absoption.

On 2026-03-01 I switched back to Swisse Odourless Wild Fish Oil, but this time another Swisse variant that has only 1000mg per tablet. My research indicates that my dosage is too high so I'll lower it to 3 tablets per day going forward.

Towards the end of march I lowered the daily dose to 2 capsules.

##### D3+K2 vitamin

I bought NOW Vitamin D3 & K2 120Capsules from Helpy Pharmacy. Will follow this plan:

- Week 1-3 (14.10 -> 4.11): 4 tablets per day ("loading" phase)
- Week 3+ (4.11 ->): 2 tablets per day ("maintainence")

As of 2026-01-19 I've followed this consistently but when I ran out on this date I stopped taking K-vitamins and instead take 2000IU vitamin 3 per day instead. It ran out around 2026-02-15 so I had about 2 weeks without any D vitamins.

On 2026-02-27 I resumed the NOW Vitamin D (1000IU) vitamin K.

#### Biotics

Started taking Bioflor (Saccharomyces boulardii) one capsule every day. Will also try to consume one other fermetented item per day, ie around 150ml kefir 2025-10-11, and I can easily buy Angkor milk yoghurt. Will try to find Dutchie Bio but difficult in Cambodia. AngkorMilk Probi is cheap and easily available, but unclear how good it is.

Having problems finding good and varied probiotics in Phnom Penh, 2025-10-18 I bought Trunature Advanced Digestive Probiotic I bought from Bun Pharmacy for $29 for 100 tablets and I will take one daily. Researched: "12 strains (label lists): L. acidophilus, L. paracasei, L. rhamnosus GG, L. salivarius, L. casei, L. plantarum, L. reuteri; Bifido: B. lactis, B. infantis, B. bifidum, B. longum, B. breve; plus XOS prebiotic. Broadest coverage: LGG (eczema/immune evidence mixed but commonly used), multiple Bifido (colon health for diverticular disease), L. reuteri (some strains linked to modest LDL improvements), and built-in prebiotic to feed Bifido."

## Smoking

Smoking has been on and off for the last 7-8 years with approximately half the time being a heavy smoker with about 20 cigarettes per day while smoking and staying fully smoke free.
The last periodes:
July 2025 - October 2025 (now): Smoke free
February 2025 - July 2025: Smoking 1 packet/day
July 2024 - February 2025: Smoke free
April 2026 - Have been smoking for about 2 months, trying to stop again.

## Alchohol

In general have had a much larger than recommended alchohol consumption for most of the adult life, probabaly averaging 25-30 unites of alchohol (0.33l beer) the adult life. From July 2023 - July 2024 it was much larger, maybe double that, while July 2024-February 2025 low at 5-10 units/week, then a bit higher February 2025-August 2025 (around 20 units/week), before stopping 100 percent all alchohol consumption 20th august 2025 and will have a very low consumption or even have full abstinence from now on. I had 6-7 small beers on my birthday 19.9.2025 and felt some stomach ache but no rebleeding. In february 2026 I drank a lot more beer, but still way less than before. Maybe 10 small beers per week. I stopped drinking again end of march since I think it made my gut worse.

## Weed

On/off, maybe averaging 1-2g most of adult life. Helps with sleep and reduces stress. Also helps avoid alchohol and smoking nicotine. Using a dry herb vape.

## Eczhema/psoriasis

Have had diagnosed scalp psoriasis most of my life which is easily managed using anti-dandruff shampoos and occasional use of liquid Locoid cortison for scalp which works well. During covid lockdown some time in 2020 the eczhema became much worse. The dermatologist took a skin sample from a rash on the trunk to have it analyzed in the lab and the results was that this was much more eczema than psoriasis. I started a vegan lifestyle which I feel improved my eczhema. After it suddenly got much worse I have been successfully managing it using Locoid cortison 0.1 percent. In general it comes back a few days to 1/2 weeks after I finish a Locoid treatment and it dissappears after 3-4 days using Locoid cream. I sometimes use hydrocortison on my face and around my ears. I have chronic dry eyes which I belive is a part of the eczhema since I got this problems at the time time and I think the problem is that I get eczhema blocking the tear channels because using a heated eye mask and massage helps a lot with the symptoms. I daily use eye lubricants.

## Sleep

Have had serious problems falling asleep for most of my adult life while living in Norway, but after stopping working and staying in south easy asia the problems solved itself so currently I have a normal sleeping pattern, at least when weed is available.

## Diett

Have had a typical western diet with lots of pizza, bread etc most of my adult life, but after getting the serious eczhema around 2020 I have been a vegetarian most of the time. I eat lots of vegetables and a salad and yoghurt every day except now after the diverticular bleeding incident in late august 2024 where I stick to a low fiber diet to reduce risk of rebleeding.

I January and February 2026 I introduced a daily meal of vegetables, like vegetable curry or similar. This, with combination of probiotics I believe, had a very positive effect on my ezcema so hopefully also reduce rebleeding risks.

## Shoulder pain

I went to Healthway Qualimed Manila 2026-01-10 for my right shoulder that have bothered me for multiple months. I had x-ray and doctors manual examination.
Diagnosis (from doctor studing x-ray images): Calcific tendinitis right shoulder and Adhesive capsulitis.
X-ray report: "The acromion is oriented inferolaterally and has a Type 1(flat) shape. The rest of the cortical outlines are intact. The joint spaces are maintained. There are no lytic changes noted. The soft tissues are unremarkable with intact fascial planes.". I believe this means that the bones are ok and my pain is more related to soft-tissue issues.
Prescribed medicines: I rejected his suggestion for steroid shot and we instead opted for Esflurbiprofen patch 40mg (Locoa) - Sig. apply once daily for pain, Quantity: 7 patches/days. Also Indomethacin gel (Vi-gel) - Sig. apply as needed for pain, Quantity: # 1.
(documents saved under Helse/HealthWay Manila 2026-01-10)
After researching I found in https://verification.fda.gov.ph/files/DR-XY48030_PI_01.pdf under "5.2 Pharmacokinetic properties" that this patch has 48.34 ± 16.70% transdermal absorption and will significantly increase my bleeding risk. I will therefor not use this at all now, and not the other cream either, and instead focus on daily ROM exercises, minimize computer and phone usage and try to do daily walks without a backpack. I will also buy heat/cold compresses.
He showed me 2 range of motions exercises which I will now try to do daily. These are the 2 "gold standard" exercises pendelum exercise and wall walk. For wall walk I can now (2026-01-12) only do up to my waist (so maybe 20-30 degress from straight down). I will see if this improves over the next 2 weeks before reconsidering to use the patch.
2026-01-13 I had my first day in this new regime. I jogged in the morning followed by should lifting exercises, 2x10 with 5kg weights. Strangely only my left sholder (the good one) got very tired during exercise. During the day I walked about 2 hours and I did the ROM exercises 3 times in total. Applied tiger balm before the evening variant. All in all I had more pain and discomfort in my right shoulder today which I think is to be expected. I also did lying on my back on hard surface and try to relax and let gravity naturally pull my shoulders down to improve my posture - I've read that this is helpful treatment of frozen shoulders and recommended to do twice daily which I will try. I plan on doing the morning exercise every 2 days.

2026-01-26 I've manage to cure my frozen should by doing range of motion exercise multiple times per day. I've not taken any medicine or injections and are pleased to have been able to cure this naturally. I still have pain in certain angles (still calcium deposits??) but are continuing with range of motion exercises and have even started doing to shoulder exercises with small weights in the gym to strengthen my shoulders.

2026-02-27: Now my shoulder pain is almost good again, I would say 70-80% recovery so this will not be a problem going forward.

## Exercise

On and off, but usually very raraly exercising. In periods I do jogging 3-4 times per week but for the last 5 years I would say these periods with exericse is only about 1 month per year in total/on average.

## Mental health

Have bad stress management where stress for for example work makes it difficult to fall a sleep. Have problems "letting things go" which can cause unnecesary stress, but don't have any issues with severerity that warrants a diagnosis in any conditions like anxiety, depression or similar. It's mainly natural ups and downs from life in general.

## Medication

Atorvastatin 40mg daily for the last couple of years, except for a 6 month periode not taking it around one year ago. In the last 2 weeks of September I reduced to 20mg and still taking only 20mg now on 11th of october.
Took Aspirin 81mg and Omeprazole with the Atorvastatin but stopped after diverticular disease bleeding incident in august 2025.
Daily eyedrops.
Cortison cream to manage eczhema.
Sildenafil, 25mg occasionally.

## Significant examinations

### Colonoscopy, september 2024

To look for cancer in response to a high CEA blood test and some blood in the stool. They did not find cancer but they did find diverticular dissease. Diagnosis in Norwegian: "K57.3 Divertikkelsykdom i tykktarm uten perforasjon eller abscess" with this info as well "Spredte små divertikler fra høyre fleksur til kolon sigmoideum."

### MR of hip area, September 2024

I had a MR-scan because of some hip discomforts at the front of my right hip and some blood vessels there more visible than on the left side.

Analysis conclusion: "Your scans look balanced on both sides and don’t show any major problems like swelling, tumors, or serious changes. The tissue looks normal and healthy overall."

See MR-analysis.md for more detailed information.

### Test situation

To briefly explain each blood test taking, starting august 2024.

- 2025-08-06, Laos: STD testing. Had no problems. All negative. Discovered the elevated inflamation markers at this time by chance.
- 2025-09-10, Phnom Penh: Recovery from bleeding incident.
- 2025-10-03, Phnom Penh: Follow up from bleeding incident. It was just at the onset of an ezchema outbreak. It was especially bad in scalp and a bit face. I order General Health package number 3 + CRP, Iron, TIBC, Homocysteine, ApoB, Fibrinogen, HbA1c.
- 2025-11-07, Phnom Penh: Mainly followup, but a few new tests. Will order General Health package number 2 + CRP hs (C-Reactive Protein) Quantitative, Fer sérique (Iron), TIBC, Ferritin, Zinc, Reticulocyte, Vitamin D Total (25-Hydroxyvitamin D), Magnesium, Phosphorus.
- 2025-11-25, Phnom Penh: Follow up high calprotectin. Feeling ok.
- 2025-12-22, Phnom Penh: Follow up. Feeling ok.

### Single day observations and thoughts

A small log of significant observations like pain, experiments, insights etc

2025-10-13: I had pretty bad stomach ache in the evening, only maybe 4 out of 10 on a pain spectrum, but definetly significant and maybe the worst stomach ache I have had related to this. I think the reason or a trigger is that I think I over ate: I had 2 pretty big meals in 2-3 hours. Especially this day and the day before I have been accelerating reintroduction of vegetables etc and I also had a big Indian spicy dish the day before but no discomfort then. I still had some pain next morgning (14th oct) and I felt a bit tired and dizzy the next morning. Worrying about rebleeding. Will try to eat smaller meals going forward and are pausing vegetables reintroduction. Will continue with yoghurt and probiotics.
2025-10-14: Still had some stomach ache but improved during the day. For dinner I had a large Indian fish based masala dish and had no issues then.
2025-10-15: No stomach ache so I tried exercising 30 minutes after having a rice porridge and avocado smoothie for breakfast. 30 minutes 110-130bpm no problems, but had some stomach ache when I was testing higher bpms (150-160bmp). I think I can exercise in the 130-140 bmp range now. However, I did feel very drained of energy after this session, not sure if it's just that it's long time since I exercised. Since stomach ache is a lot better today, I will have mushroom soup and a bit vegetables (75g today, 75g tomorrow, brocoli, califlower and carrots)
2025-10-21: I have been taking the Atorvastatin 20mg every morning, but from today I will switch to evening. I read that it's best taken late because then cholosterol is higher than in the morning. I wonder if this switch will influence blood test.
2025-10-26: In general now it feels stable with stool firmness medium, I think perfect/toothpaste-ish, and less discomfort if I take brisk 30+ min walks. However, there's definetly something still wrong because I get a lot of bloating after eating and drinking and I have discomfort in my stocmach. Every morning I have some discomfort, then I have breakfast and I have good apetite and no problem eating, but stomach discomfort worse after eating I feel the urge to go to the toilet after eating.
2025-10-27: I tried exercising a bit in the morning. I woke up with some bloating, but still decided to exercise a bit. 30 min with 15 min brisk walk and 15 min jogging. 10 min jogging without walking so pretty high bpm. As when talking morning walks, bloating got a lot worse after about 10 minutes, but only big stomach, no pain. I think it went really well. Maybe I had a tiny bit of stomach ache afterwards, but hardly noticable.
2025-11-07: I have been exercising every second day with increased intensity. 2 times before breeakfast with no or hardly noticable stomach aich but some uncomfort the session where I had had breakfast before so now only exercise before breakfast. The last session today I did 20 min jogging without walking at 8km/h and had somewhere in 150-155bpm when finished. I then did 3x intervals at jogging at 10kh/h (160-165bpm) for 1 minute and walking at 6km/h (140-145bpm) for 2 minutes. Now my stool firmness is consistently good.
2025-11-23: Today I have exercised around 10 times in 20 days. I tested today on threadmill, 1% upwards angle, 5km/h 5 min warm up, then jog at 8.5 km/h. After 11 minutes jogging I had > 160 heart bpm so I stopped then. Will test again in a few weeks and check what heart rate I have after 20 minutes jogging and this can be my benchmark.
2025-11-25: After the high calprotectin result, I eased down a bit on the exercising and with low iron I will try to focus on getting more iron from my diet
2025-12-22: For the last month things have been unchanged. I have maintained healthy life style, medicine regime etc and my symptoms are about the same. No new bleeding or serious stomach ache, but I definetely feel that something is wrong, ie stomach discomfort every morning when I wake up, need to go to toilet after eating, getting bloated (some times very bloated with a really big belly). I have had some orange juice with eggs etc to increase iron levels but I've not been very consistent. I have been exercising pretty consistently 2-3 times per week (30 min jogging, high intensity with intervals)
2025-12-24: Update on my diet: I have changed the diet a bit the last weeks. Now I usually eat every day: pumpkin soup, white toast with chees and eggs, white break with tuna, indian fish curry with rice and naan, one smoothie (always avocado, sometimes banana and apple). Now I eat pancakes with honey maybe just once per week and I haven't eaten rice porridge in a few weeks just because I find the taste so boring.
2025-01-02: Today while in Manila I started having a bit pain which is easy to pinpoint location in my lower belly, on the left side. It's not strong pain at all, but it's very concrete and at a specific place. I would say just 3/10 on a pain scale and just a little bit when I went to bed. It dissappears when changing position or standing up. I think I might have had a tiny bit pain like that yesterday or 2 days ago, but before that I haven't had this concrete localized pains for a while, atleast multiple weeks, maybe even 2 months, so I feel it's a step back. I currently have a cold with running nose, drained of energy etc and today after I ate pumpkin soup for breakfast I got diareaa, which I also haven't had much for a long time since I've been actively managing my stool firmness. On 2025-12-23 I had a few beers in Phnom Penh and on New Years Eve I had 7-8 beers here in Manila so my feeling is that it's the drinking that caused a bad development in my prognosis. The last meal before I had pain today (about 2 hours before) was Singapore Fish Curry Rice which had deep fried fish pieces - it's the first time I had anything deep fried in a long time (maybe 1 year). I also had a bit of chocolate and a bit coke zero. I will stay away from alchohol and try to adopt a similar diet as worked before and see if the pain stop appearing. I'm also seriously considering seeing a Gastroenterologist at St. Patrics hospital here in Manila. I fear having to take another colonoscopy so I have been putting it off but maybe it's better to think that they can't force me so it shouldn't prevent me from seeing a doctor.
2025-01-03: I'll document my recovery from the stomach pain. I'm switching to a low fiber diet for a few days. When waking up today I also had some pain at very localized positions in my lower belly, mainly on the left side but also a bit on the right side. Very weak and it goes away when I stand up. I see this as warning signs that needs to be treated. For breakfast I had pancakes. I still haven't been to the toilet. I'm dreading it in case it's blood and plan on waiting until I have to go since I don't want to push and posibly trigger bleeding. I'm staying off coffee, drinking lots of water and lots of C vitamin though orange juice and Oishi Smart C orange drink. I've had a little bit of coke zero. I still have a cold with a running noise (a lot!) and feel low on energy so I'm just staying in my room today. I ordered Fish Curry for dinner with 1 organge juice and no coffee to try to increase iron absorption. I drank about 2l water, and around 1l other liquids like coke zero and orange juice. After eating the Fish Curry I was less bloated than normally after eating and no more localized pain, so atleast this fish curry variant that I orderered from Kathmandu indian restaurant I seemed to handle well.
2025-01-04: Today pain ache has almost dissappeared. I've had very loose stool so today I had rice porridge with eggs for breakfast and french baguette with omelette for lunch. It came with a free coffee I could not resist so I had that one coffee and felt stomach discomfort afterwards so definetely no coffee on loose stool days. Then Fish Curry with just rice for dinner. Drank 2l water and 2 organce juice. I only went to toilet in the morning so I don't know stool consistency at end of the day but my stomach feels a lot better. I stopped taking the multi probiotic since one of them (XOX?) might not be good when having diverticular disease. I plan on resuming in a few days and find another variant without that xox (?) next time.
2025-01-05: Recovery going well. Rice porridge and toast and egg and no coffee has amazing effect on stool consistency. Just one day and perfect again. Very little to no pain.
2025-01-06: Since recovery is going well, I started eating vegetables again today - sauted vegetables. I ate maybe 100-150g for breakfast; carrots, cucumber and some mushrooms. It triggered a bit stomach ache so I should probably go slower and maybe wait with mushroom.
2025-01-12: I had 4 small beers 2 days ago, with no stomach pain or issues, but I did a very low fiber diet for 2 days just in case. Then for dinner today I had a indian vegetable curry and ate everything in one go. Pretty spicy. I drank lots of water and afterwards help body upright. I got very bloated, and a little bit of pain in the lower abdomen, but I was really trying to feel and see any signs of problems. I would say 2/10 on a pain scale. Now one hour after eating I think this was a very successfull experiment. If I do half portions it would for sure be ok. Even full portions like now is ok so I will try to really increase the fiber intake from vegetables from now on. My stool have had perfect firmness for quite some time.
2025-01-13: Today I pushed the limits a bit: I jogged in the morning and felt a little bit pain after about 15 minutes so I turned down the pace. The in the evening I had a full japanese veg curry for dinner and 4 small beers just an hour afterwards. I got a bit drunk because my low alchohol tolerance. Then just after the beers I had a small pizza. No stomach issues except lots of bloating after the veg curry and a little bit of stomach ache when I walked about 1 hour after eating. Both morning and evening pain was just 2/10 on a pain scale and stopped immediately.
2025-01-26: For the last weeks and going forward I've changed my diet a lot. I hardly eat pumpkin soup but instead eat white toast and omelette with mushrooms for breakfast, I try to have a high in iron meal for lunch, like mussels of clam stew with c-vitamins and a indian mixed vegetable curry with rice for dinner followed by my probiotics.
2025-04-07: I have forgotten about iron in my diet. At the beginning of april I had some sudden and very intense stomach ache with some nausea. I believe I had sushi before it happened and I suspect alchohol has worsen my gut. The pain episode was pretty dramatic. I started to get stomach ache, I went to the toilet, it was no blood or anything unusal with my stool, but my stomach ache continued to worsen even after I went to the toilet. I would say that 15-20 minutes after the pain started coming it was at its worse. I had very intense stocmach pain, I felt dissy and I started sweating a lot. Then when it was it its worse I got a sense of cramps in my left arm. It was like my left hand we vibrating. Not sure if it was really vibrating or if it just felt this way. I would say that after around 5 minutes of very intense pain, it got better and after 10-15 minutes I felt totally fine again. It was a pretty scary experience and although I have had sudden stomach ache before, this episode was by far the worse in terms of pain intensity and I've never had this cramp sensation before I had in my left hand/lower arm. In general my stomach/gut is worse now than it was before I started drinking again. While in Manila I switched to a high fiber diet with lots of daily vegetables without any issue, but after 1-2 months of drinking again my gut is noticable worse so alchohol is a clear suspect. Compare to before this latest drinking I now get more bloated after meals and some times I get these spot pains that suddenly appear and quickly disappear again, usually at the very bottom of my stomach on both sides. In general my stool has had pretty good consistency for months now (approx toothpaste firmness), including around this painful episode. I think my apetite has gone down because it takes longer after a meal before I feel hungry, but when I start eating I have great apetite. For now I stop after 50% of the meal to reduce load on the gut, but I still get very bloated, much more than before.
2025-04-09: When I had half a tuna egg baguette from Gerbi's restaurant a few days ago I hardly got any bloating, but when I had the same today with a glass of orange juice, I got very bloated, so I'm considering if it's just random day-by-day difference or if freshly squized orange juice (no added sugar) can worsen bloating. In general I feel very bloated after meals, my stomach is like someone pregnant. Another observation: I do feel tired and a bit mental fog so I worry that my iron levels might be very low.
2025-04-13: I still get very bloated both when eating and when walking. Also feel drained of enery and a bit foggy mentally, but only occasional spot pains in the lower abdomen, and sometimes a bit pain in my left chest - I worry it's related to the heart. Today when I went to a coffee shop I actually fell in the stairways. It can be conindicent but I think a bit related with me being groggy and foggy. Today it's my 4th day without smoking so hoping I will manage to keep it up.
2025-04-18: I've had a few beers for Khmer New Year. I felt a bit better a few days ago so I went out and had 6-7 small beers. This actually went great, no stomach ache or anything, including the hangover day. Then I had another beer session (5-6 small beers) just 2 days after the previous and then I had distinct stomach ache, both when drinking and the next day. It makes me think that I might be able to handle alchohol if done infrequently so maybe I'll allow myself to go out partying once or twice a month.
